2000CS in Costa Mesa. CA

Im writing from Germany for a friend who is interested in the 2000CS which is currently on Ebay, lisiting#190489330070. Car is located in Costa mesa and since quite a few of our members are in that area, maybe someone knows this car and can shed some light on its condition? As per the seller, rust ONLY around one side around the rear window, car needs new interior and a paintjob. That almost sounds like an old or no restoration during its life, which, as we ALL unfortunately know, cant be the only rust issues as claimed by the seller.
Any info regarding this car would certainly help in my friends decision to buy or not. Finally, is there anyone in Costa Mesa who would be willing to go take a look at it? Keshav

All I know is that it has been on Craigslist for a while and looks like it needs some work. When does the auction end, does it have a buy it now price? I can't view eBay here at work.

I have no relationship to the seller.

It's obvious to me from the few pictures that this car has far more miles than the 37K+ claimed or stated by the seller--more like 100 or 200 + 37.

IMHO--At best it is a marginal example of a 4 cylinder coupe that needs complete restoration of body, paint, mechanical and most cosmetics. Frankly, I would look elsewhere for a 2000 CS unless the friend in Germany is looking for a really major project car. It's purchase price, plus shipping, plus restoration, would not present an appealing financial picture to me.

I live nearby the cars location and can do a more in depth evaluation if warranted.

Thank you Chris and Mr. Blumax. Chris, i too am at work and cant see if the seller has a 'buy now' price. Blumax, I see your point and had a similar opinion which i passed on to my friend, Mr Bruno fabeck (who used to be a racing mechanic for Alpina in the good old days (late 70's). Its been listed a few times now on EBay. I had asked him after the first time I saw it didn't sell what was his reserved price. I believe it was 3k.
