Does anyone here have enough experince with these cars (2000CS on ebay) to let me know if the interior here is original or a later upholstery job?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1968...ars_Trucks?hash=item20af87b1e5#ht_24755wt_980

We here were thinking that sans the headrests, if you note this interior includes a one-piece rear seat and they are not a pair of buckets as in the next year 2800CS car. We are contemplating swapping a 3.0CSi interior into a 2000CS but wish to be accurate as to what actually came with that car initially...

Anyone know?

Cheers!

Maybe I will call the guy and look at it tomorrow for my own pleasure, as I am not a buyer right now. From the phone# and pictures of his house, I would think he lives within a few miles of me.

It would be a shame to put later seats in a car that appears very original, other than the single carb and manifold.

Thanks Andi Chris as we agree fully and those pics you posted confirm...but that guy forgot that the rears are significantly different...and even though
he disagreed with me it seems in this rare case i was correct!

lol!

I HAVE seen 2000CS with headrests though...

Here: http://bringatrailer.com/2008/05/09/clean-blue-plate-1967-bmw-2000cs-coupe/

...so the headrests may have been optional?

If you DO go look Bert ask the guy if it's original as we agree it very well might be...especially given it's tatty condition in similar places as our own 2000CS.

If anyone does have a set Blue Leather seats and interior panels (as original 2000CS) just let me know and I can pass along my friend's
name and contact info as he's looking for something is good condition...(good luck!)

This forum is such a valuable resource...thanks again guys!

Those headlamps are real euros and are very expensive. My first coupe was a black euro 2000cs with a webasto roof but I chose to restore Jabberjaw instead.

Since they built the 2000CS into very early 1970, a `69 or `70 U.S. model should have had headrests I would believe. I do know that on the 2002's headrests were added in Jan/Feb of `69 to all U.S. cars.

The seats on the EBay car look like original seats, but I can't tell if they have been reupholstered. I think they are a different pattern from the 67 2000CS seats I have, but I can't get to mine to check.

2000CS seats are definitely different from E9 seats. E9 seats will fit but the rears require some fiddling. E9 seats will not look like 2000CS seats.

The B-A-T car looks to me like it has 2002 seats, from what little I can see in the pictures.

My guess is a leather redo of the original vinyl. Has it been established whether or not leather was even an option on these cars? Those seats are in amazing shape for an Arizona car that has spent a lot of time outside, which also makes me think they're not original. FWIW, World Upholstery doesn't offer a leather 2000 cs kit.

Leather was definitely an option - I have 2 sets of Marine Blue leather 2000CS seats.

I think velour cloth was standard, but vinyl was also available.
