ONLY 5 DAYS LEFT IN OUR SPRING BREAK SPECIAL!

Hey @halboyles ,

question; I'm converting my e9 from automatic to Getrag 5spd and wonder what short shift kit i should get.
Your website differentiates between pre and post 3/74, and also has the Getrag option in the 3rd row in the pull down menu.
I'm guessing the Getrag is the one I need, regardless of the buid date of my car?

( My car is from 73, but I'm building it up with components sourced from various other cars with unknown build date.)

Thank you for your interest in the short shifter. You would have to look at the shifter that you currently have. Many of the early shifters were replaced with the later shifter to use wear components that were still available. So, the only way to be certain is to see which version of the shifter you have.
We currently don't have the later version of the short shifter in stock but we do have the early version in stock. If you want to use our Shift Linkage System with the shifter, we can supply both the early short shifter and the early Shift Linkage System with DSSR. There is really no difference in functionality or durability between the early and late version. And both DSSR versions use the same bronze bushings/clevis pins/clevis clips.
So, you would order the early Short Shifter version and the Shift Linkage Linkage System for the Getrag 265. Please see attached pics for clarification.
Sorry that this seems so confusing but there are many possible combinations of transmissions/shifters/shift linkages!

As I only have my original Automatic selector, I have no shifter yet.

Does that mean that for my purposes (Auto to manual swaP), both early and late style are possible ("interchangable") and matching to your "Shift Tower" and "Ultimate shift linkage" ?

Yes that is correct. You will need the Shift Tower, Short Shifter, and Shift Linkage System for the conversion. You can use either the early or late Short Shifter and Shift Linkage systems as long as the Short Shifter and Shift Linkage System match.

A question regarding the Getrag 265 trans support bracket. In comparison to the Coupe King swap kit, yours does not come with the support from the Shift Tower to the brace. Is this something that I will need to fab up when doing my Auto to Manual swap or is your shift tower strong enough to not need that support?

Good question. We don't supply that support mainly because BMW themselves stopped using that kind of extra brace for the shift tower in the '80s I believe. We added an additional tab at the rear end of the shift tower that uses an isolator bushing bolted directly to the tunnel. Almost all BMW shift towers from the '80s on vehicles use this kind of rear support. We have also had problems getting that long brace to fit on some Big Sixes. @sfdon was influential in modifying the shift tower for this adaptation.

Thank you for the clarification! I've got the shift platform from you already and now I'll be getting some more bits for the upcoming swap. Thanks for creating these parts!
