For the last three years, the great bunch that puts on our local Cars & Coffee also sponsor a NYD drive. Not too crazy and a few twisties on the way and we end up about two hours later at an In & Out. There were quite a few coupes this year, and we even got Paul Cain to get out of the deep blue Pacific Ocean after his annual NYD swim (brrrrrr!!!) to join up with us. My wife and I always bring two cars and have my in-laws join us in the cars for the drive...they love it and look foward to it every year. This year I got Dad to drive with me as Mom kept screaming at me last year to slow down in the twisties (of course I ignored her!).

This year was the best yet as it was much better orginized by the staff and a good time was had by all. We also met up with Craig Hillskemper whom is a Technical Instructor for BMWNA. Craig had a great looking 2000CS.

Enough of the dialouge, here are some pics and a little narration.

All of the coupes lined up in a row. From right to left, here are the respective owners:

My CSL
Tom Rakestraw's CSL
Paul Cain's 3.8CSI
The Alpina tribute car
Mike Pelly's 3.5 CSI
Craig's 2000CS

Enjoy, and Happy New Year!

My car is 'packed away' for the next couple of months due to the inclement weather in my part of the world :(

Great photos .. great machines ... thanks for sharing :D

I'll second that thought... Great pictures and a nice tradition.

And... My CS is tucked away for the time being. I'm sure having still ~1' of snow on my driveway has nothing to do with that.

New Years day collection

Very nice, wonderful to view the differences side by side. Thanks for sharing and starting my New Year on a high note.

Terrific! Thanks for posting the photos.

Incidentally, whoever was taking exception to the Alpina Tribute's upholstery ought to check out James Taylor's volume, BMW Alpina. It contains a color photo of a factory 7-series Alpina with the same upholstery treatment.

Thanks for pointing that out! The Alpina Z8 has the exact interior as well.

Stan, that is one beautiful coupe, I love the red interior and the Alpina wheels.
