I was hoping the Nissan Leaf would be a pretty good vehicle for those that want a real world priced Electric car. Guess I was wrong.

Option one:
- FInd a totaled Leaf and buy its used battery.
Option two:
- HIde under my friend's Prius in SF, wait for the guys that come to steal his catalytic converter every week and pay them to steal a Leaf battery.
Option three:
- SFdon can install an M30 with a 5-speed and Megasquirt.

I like option 2. Anyone know how much Unobtanium is in a Prius Cat in US $? That seems like real work..safety glasses required.
My friend has 2 Priuses, the new one is never touched, they always steal it from the older model that is apparently assembled by Ikea and can be removed with on tool in 3 steps...
The chemical value is secondary if they sell it to other Priuses that face the choice of scrapping the car or more the 1.000 dollars in buying a new one.
It is the only part of the car that the state will inspect you have and that must be sourced new...
