In the process of offloading my 55 years of cra..., uh, valuable vintage BMW literature, I came across the owner's manual for 2800CS VIN 2270390. The car is not listed in the Registry here, but I thought there's a remote chance someone may know of it. The manual is in fair condition and shows completed "programmtests" up through 80,000 miles in 1985! Interestingly, the manual is for an E3 2800 but the handwritten info inside denotes a 2800CS sold new at Peter Pan BMW in San Francisco. The original owner's name is illegible. Happy to pass it along for free to anyone interested.
 
Wow, only 17 cars before my car was made on July 24, 1970. I wonder how long it took for them to make 17 cars. Fortunately, I have both a German and very tired English owner's manual for the 2800CS. English manuals are hard to find here, I found mine on the German ebay for a reasonable price and had a friend of a friend relay it to me since the seller didn't want to post it to the US.
I hope your manual finds its way to someone who has none.
 
I would be happy to have one for my car but I don't want to take it away from someone that actually had "that" car. But if no takers I would be thrilled to have it.

hmmm .... Don, the car 2270390 is in the registry and is noted to be owned by .... uhmmmm, ehrrrrr .... YOU. there are 2 records one in 2012 and another in 2024

so are you sure? or are the registries and ancestry project wrong?

Hmmm for sure. I thought that VIN sounded familiar. I have found the owner and returned the manual to him -- me. What an idiot.

In my meager defense, as I mentioned, the manual is for a 2800 E3 (even though the handwritten data in it is for my E9). I checked the VIN of our 3.0S E3 and it did not match (shocking). Scott, I checked the E3 VIN registry and did not find it there. Duh. Your registry listings are correct, though I certainly don't need it listed twice.

Wish I could claim dementia or some such. Thanks for straightening this out for me.
