2800 CS Windshield Installation

Whom does your local dealer use?
Not that they'd be aware, much less familiar, with the nightmare that some CS windshields can be...
Keep the body well supported once the ws comes out - per Carl Nelson a lot of the difficulty of installing the ws comes from body flex once it's removed.

When you say "keep the body well supported" are you implying putting it on jack stands or a lift (barely)? Or are there strategic points that need support? I think I just violated my cardinal rule of "search the forum before you ask questions," but I plead "long week" in this case. ;)

Somewhere on a 2002 forum is a video on how to do it yourself. I am not proposing that but proposing that you make yourself aware so when it is done, you can observe and feel confident it is being done correctly.

WRT body flex, just can't see that being an issue unless you are having more done than replacing the windshield. Anecdotal yes but my car sat for 3 years getting work done with temp changes and the windshield went back in without issues.

They make it look easy. I put a new headliner in the 2002 and eventually found someone to put the glass back in. I believe I could do it the next time. E9, not so sure.

When Paul and I did the 2002 several years ago the rear wasn’t too bad, the front was another story but that was due to trim being inserted after the glass is in, not the way it is done on an e9.

We tried without the trim and ended up installing trim first. It was too hard the to put the trim in afterwards. Don’t remember front or rear we had to pull the rope starting at the bottom.

Interestingly, I was able to remove the trim before removing the glass but we knew the trim can't be placed after the glass is in. Also crisscross/overlap the rope a few inches, if not, there is a little gap when done that may be a PIA to get seated.

Again, any info on John Jacobs?
I searched the forum for old posts by John Jacobs. His member ID is jhjacobs. From Oak Ridge, TN
However he was last seen on the forum Jul 20, 2021 so you could 'start a conversation' to send him a message, but unless he has email notifications turn on, he won't see a message until he logs on again.
