2800 Disk Brake Conversion

Hi gang,

I did a search but wasn't able to find details on how to do a disk brake conversion for the 2800. Is there an FAQ or good post/thread about it?

You need rear trailing arms from a 3.0cs as it came equipped with disc brakes. I found a pair for $400, but I see them typically in the 600-800 range for both.

Instead of front and rear swap which may entail master cylinder and brake bias adjustment perhaps a simpler approach which would yield similar braking (acknowledging wet weather variation) would be to simply swap out the front disc to ventilated and mount the later caliper. Guessing 90% of the stopping power with lower cost and hassle. Those rears are just along for the ride anyway.

That is a pretty good suggestion. I forgot about the solid rotors on the 2800 :-(

James -I have the complete set up for this conversion which I have decided not use: trailing arms from a 3.0CS, new-in-the-box rotors, calipers (used) and even the cross member and sway bar. Send me a PM if you still want to do the conversion and we can work out a deal.
