does anyone know how difficult is to get a new emblem of the 2800 number that is placed in the trunk boot ?

i can not find it in walloth nor in bmw

is it NLA ?

regards

deQ,

they are never available ... i looked for years. i bought a refinished set from coupeking ... that was a bit on the expensive side. the downside is that the backside prongs aren't as long as a new set would be ... so i never figured out how to mount it. and my coupe has the holes covered up, when it was repainted ... so i never have got around to it. i then bought a 3.5 emblem.

de Q, I think I have the grey colored gasket that goes under the rear emblem if you need one. I can just mail it to you if you want- let me know.

The emblems on my 540 are glued onto the paint. I believe that older emblems could be glued with the proper adhesive.

that is for the E3. the e9 emblem part no ended 810563 (NLA) ... the e3 ends 803550 or 804814 (NLA)

Agree that the E9 2800 trunk emblem is akin to hen's teeth now.
Bet many were discarded by POs when they rebadged their cars when they dropped a larger mill in.

My car is a 2800 that was rebadged as a 3.0 at some point in its history.

Got lucky (years ago) and a 2800 badge surfaced after the paint dried. Initial plan was to only have the 'CS' on the trunk lid. I didn't want people to think it is something it is not. ;-)

I filled the holes not thinking a 2800 badge would ever show and used 3M's 'VHB' (VERY High Bond) dbl sided tape. I had a stash of VHB from a project mounting glass mirrors to aluminum sheet for a swanky hotel decor project. 3M told us that it is used in modern car interior/dash assembly, once cured, its never coming apart....

I'll keep an eye out for them....

Got a NOS "2800" from our old friend Murray Fowler. Waiting for repaint before I attempt to mount it. I'm astutely looking for the "c" and "s" emblems if anyone has a lead. The 2800 version seems smaller than the 3.0 version.

Glenn,

you can still buy the "S" from BMW ... the C is NLA
51141810790 - $21.76 from Penske / probably cheaper from tomkinson

deQ,

Would you happen to have any "Automatic" emblems ? I have a '71 2800cs where the PO converted the slushbox into a 4 speed, but I can't stand the holes left behind.
