Dear E9 friends,

as we found a 3.0CSI now I would like to offer our 1970 2800CS (build in June 1970) for sale.

Vehicle is located in Germany. We´re the 3rd owner. The 2800 is equipped with original 16" Alpina Wheels, front wind splitter and a Petri steering wheel. The outer body and chrome parts are in very good condition. I measured the paint thickness all around the car and it is in general between 200 - 300 microns. Paint is very well done in Nightblue. Originally the E9 was Polaris Silver. Car is equipped with 4-speed gearbox and rear electric windows. Interior is also very good (wood and door panels). The 2800 is equipped with Koenig Sports Seats in Velour.
Suspension parts look very good as well as the exhaust system. Engine runs well.

The pictures show it with lower springs and a CSL front spoiler. They are not part of the offer.

The car looks great but need some work to bring it back to road in great condition. Floor need to be replaced from rear seats on forward as well as the driver side inner fender. There is a hole (it had it already when we bought the car in 2012) next to the fuse box. The passenger side looks ok. As the floor is not good I assume the sills need work too but cannot say as this is only visible when dismantled.

The previous owner cut a sunroof in the E9 as this was somehow fashion at that time.

From my point of view no need to change on the body is the following

- Outer body parts including doors, front hood and compartment
- Both rear fenders
- Spare wheel compartment and area around fuel tank
- Gearbox tunnel

This car is a perfect base for a partially restoration or for sure a full one. Depends on effort, time and budget.

Location is east of Munich in Germany and could be inspected on a hydraulic lifter if needed.

If you have any questions please send me a mail. If further info is needed I´m happy to have a phone call.

Price is 37.500 Euros

Those first four photos of your car are just gorgeous. I wish I had the skills to sort out the rust. Would love to see some photos of the dash.

it is not right haw can it be, having good paint job that is look like new paint and under the car all rusty who will paint the car with all that rust first thing you will fix the rust then you will start the paint job this car can not be judge with the picture you need to inspect close by yourself

Dear cicada, Dear Candia441,

many thanks for your replies.

I only sell it because I have neither the time and place nor the skill to fix it. We bought it 2012 in this condition. The paint job was done much earlier and very professional.

We knew when we bought it that it had some issues with corrosion.

My problem here is that you do not find a "normal" workshop being able and willing to do the job. I have two specialists close to me which are both doing lots of E9´s. One of them also restored the 507 from Elvis for BMW classic. Problem with them is that

  • First they are fully booked out for the minimum next 2 years
  • Second they are not doing partial work. For them it is all or nothing which would be after getting a possible slot they take your car another 2 years and 70-80 thousand Euros of cost.
Therefore we looked for a substitute and I found a very good and beautiful 3.0 CSI in Fjord

I search for someone being capable of restoring it him or herself. I know there are plenty of extremely skilled people out there. The 2800 is absolutely worth to do it. I also want to show very clear that there is work but also that the condition of the outer body is very good. Often you see offered projects where everything is gone. All body parts full of corrosion and in really bad condition. Even these cars are rescued but with an unbelievable effort.

Perhaps here is someone looking for a better start of a project but I also agree that it is helpful to inspect it in person or send someone trusted to do it
