I hate those taking best offers Craigslist ads. "I already got an offer of $8k" I like his response too.
How far is Santa Marina from LA? I would take a look at it.
Pictures often may either HIDE or EXPOSE or EXAGGERATE.
Engine pics again, could be just spray bomb over the ugly sound proof material. And the rust showing may just be some deep scratches that is just surface rust. I saw no bubbles.

It is an hour north of Santa Barbara. I think the prior owner didn't want to pay for the cheesy upholstery work and that has to be the worst looking air cleaner ever.
