The good old days...
My father bought the 1st 2800CS to come to El Salvador. Note the "must have" fog-light in Germany.
Never got those here.
Bought it in Germany, drove it there, shipped to Houston, then drove to El Salvador, when it was safe to do so.
BMW gave him a "Diplomat" discount (as he had a passport as such)
If I well remember it was just a tad more than $6,000.
The E3, he bought here, a few (?) years after. Maybe 2 or 3.
I remember him lending them to me and drove around like crazy with my friends (the Coupe, with girls only ), wonderful cars!
Imagine, in the day the number of the plates (1971) reflected how many cars were in the country.
Now, we're up to 1 Million.
Sadly, the Coupe, he sold it without telling me, and likewise the E3.
The Coupe is owned by an ex- mechanic from the dealership, looks like crap. Too bad.
Thought you fanatics and friends would enjoy the photo.
Regards, Alberto
