Time for another!

One day tour that starts in Chico and travels through Lassen Volcanic National Park. August 5th. Lassen park is full of rock formations, sweeping vistas, crystal clear lakes and volcanic activity. And maybe a little snow at the summit parking lot.

Come on up the day before and visit Sierra Nevada Brewery. The brewery tour is cool and they have a great restaurant.

If you're lucky, there may be stickers and a cheap route map. We may even recycle last years t-shirt design. Admission is free. (donations always accepted) There is a $10 park entrance fee.

Shanon,

Can't seem to find any specific info on FB. I will be camping at Manzanita Lake August 5-7, will you be passing through near there?

Chris

Chris,

We should be passing by the lake entering Lassen Park in the late morning.

There's a Starbucks just past the Carquinez that also has a Chevron and a Mcdonalds at the Lincoln exit. Maybe there at 630? (I will certainly need another coffee by then!)

Edit - actually, is this too far south for you? If so feel free to suggest anything else, I'll be bombing up the whole way early.

Volcano Weather update

Sunday : Mostly cloudy in the morning then becoming partly cloudy. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs 72 to 87 higher elevations...77 to 92 lower elevations. Prevailing southwest winds up to 10 mph.

Looks to be a fine day in the mountains.....road conditions were recently reported by fellow organizer to be: outstanding.

Rally on.
;-)

Good Times

Yesterday's Volcano 200 enjoyed great weather, roads, scenery, cars and people. Special thanks to fellow coupers that made the haul north: Barry, Andi, John and a cameo by Chris who happened to be in the area. The marque was well represented, all we needed was an E3 to complete the line.

Some pics to come and hope you all enjoyed the day. We'll do it again.

Great mix of cars and folks. John's S38 powered Coupe is sure sweet!
All we needed was a 'little bit of Italy' to round it all out.

PS: Good thing we went thru Lassen Park yesterday, a major wild fire started there today. Smoke plumes made it looked like a major eruption.....wild.

Shanon,

Lucky you guys came through on Sunday! On Monday we went to Summit Lake and hiked to Echo Lake and took a swim. Came out at 2:30 and decided to head to the south entrance and see the sights along the way. Returned to Summit Lake at 4:30 and road was closed just 10 miles short of our campground. We turned around and drove for 2 1/2 hours to get back to the west side of the park. Beautiful country though but by Tuesday night the fire had doubled in size and smoke was everywhere! Glad I could meet up with everyone on Sunday.

Also good to meet John and his sweet S38, Andy and his 2000CS and to see Barry G and yourself of course.

It was great seeing all the cool cars up in the mountains. Sorry I was late to the start (even more sorry due to the reason - word to the wise: CHiPs don't care if having your speedo read in kph makes realtime speed conversion tough).

It's also the dirtiest Lucy has been since she got back on the road - she needed a serious scrub-down.
