3.0 CSi sunroof and sunscreen question - Finally some parts!! Pics

We (my father and I) have a 73 3.0 CSi that's been in our family since 81, and it was time to fix it up a little. The car was sent to a friend for painting, and some of the interior was refurbished.

The friend was unfortunately of the unserious kind, and after two years in his garage we picked up the painted, but not reassembled car (the trunk is full of parts and weatherstrips, windshields etc.)

Now that my Camaro is finished, I'm starting with the BMW.

Now to my questions:

Q1:
I have figured out how to assemble the sunroof, but from the marks on the guiding rails it seems that the sunroof should have two rubber (or plastic) pieces, that lets the rear of the sunroof slide on the rails.
These pieces are placed in the rear corners of the sunroof.

I can't find anything in the parts lists..
I've found a part that could be it (Maximillian 54/1/10), but they are already fastened (originally) in the near middle of the roof.

Q2:
What is the Maximillian 54/2/9 for?? Can't find it among my parts..

Q3:
The plastic piece of my passenger sunscreen has broken off at both tabs, but I can't find a reproduction. Are there any out there at all?

Thanks for all answers

Q1: I have recently pulled my sunroof apart so this is fresh in my mind. If I understand you correctly, the part you are looking for is a felt strip 15mm x 40mm x 3 mm thick. It is what slides along the top of the track. It is held in place by two pointed (triangular tabs) that pierce the felt and then fold over to hold it in place.

Q2: This part - there is one for each side- holds the rear of the aluminum track in alignment. The two forward facing prongs engage the track and the single rear prong fits into a hole in the roof structure. It keeps the track from moving side to side.

Q3: I think Carl Nelson in CA (http://www.bimmerdoc.com/) has the inside clips. I am not sure if he ships overseas. They show up on ebay from time to time.

You might also speak with Hugh Walker in the UK regarding this as he's sourced those clips for a mate of mine in the Midwest USA and it might be easier given your location.

He's a metal worker and is very familiar with the sunroofs and CSL Lightweights...

That's exactly what I'm looking for, thank you!
Now I can make them from a rubber piece, since it's not available.

Thanks! I'll check if they're just left in the roof from the disassembly, or if I'll have to order new ones.

Thank you both for the answer on Q3, but I believe it's not the clips I need. It's the very bracket attached to the sunscreen, that has two mounting holes and a middle hole for the sunscreen itself.
The sunscreen rotates around this bracket, and it attaches in the outer corners of the windshield.
Noticed that the driver's side is cracked too, but not broken yet.

Is it called C-337 Sun Visor Pivot - Left?

If so, then I probably should buy the:
C-339 Sun Visor Repair Kit
Includes left and right pivots and 2 clips.

Can you please confirm if this is the correct part?
There are no pictures on that site..

Thanks

I would not use rubber. It will not slide very well being dragged along the track. Hard plastic could work, or a dense/firm felt fabric like the original.

Sunvisor clips: The description sounds like the correct parts. Try emailing them. I have not had a very good service experience from this company. It may take a while to get the parts. We folks on the forum would be curious to know what these pivots look like. I thought they were no longer available from BMW. Perhaps they are reproductions?

Good luck,

Got the sun visor clips and pivots from bimmerclassicparts.com the other day.
(After just 3 months!!!)
The parts appear to be original, though nobody else lists them as available.
They also managed to send me the joint that connects the chrome decorative frames inside the coupe. This part was used.

Uploading some pics for you. The sun visor parts are stamped with BMW.

I think they may be a bit different (if it is like the new ones I have). In the photo the one on the left is the original. The one on the right is a new one a picked up last year. The length of the metal shaft between the bend and the plastic base is different. I am planning on fabricating an oval washer about 4-5 mm thick to put between the new plastic and the recessed headliner mounting point and hope to make them work.

I haven't checked that yet, but I have the originals with broken plastic.
If there is a difference, I hope to use shaft & spring from the originals.
Thanks for the tip!
I haven't had time for the bimmer lately, but next week I have 5 days off.
Hoping to get her ready for inserting the windscreen then :)
