3.0 engine material (looking to recycle)

father needs to scrap an old M30 engine (complete block/head/etc). does anyone know what the metal was used in the block? i know the head is aluminum.

also, i'll take any recommendations of where to take it (houston area)

What year is the head? Is it cracked or otherwise unusable? I think the block is iron.

head is a rebuilt (maybe 10K miles on it) 81. was going to go into his e9 restoration but a garage fire put an end to that. engine wasn't in the garage so was not damaged. didn't think about parting out but could investigate it if you are interested. also has a brand new water pump on it.

The Block is cast iron. I remember trying to get rid of my extra M30 20 years ago when I sold my Bavaria. No one would take it (for free), so I went to the scrap metal yard. Seemed very wrong.
