Hi all,
I've located a 1975 3.0Si close to home that is for sale - it was running when parked but has been sitting for "some time" and will not start. Looking for opinions. Would this make a good parts car for my 71 3.0 CSi - I know many of the parts are the same but is it the same fuel injection, same engine, same wheels etc.

Any advice (positive or negative) would be appreciated.
Many thanks in advance,
Ken

All the interior will be different, but the mechanical aspects of the car, save the driveshaft, should all match pretty well. However, unless you are hunting for NLA parts, such as fuel injection components, you may as well get new parts, rather than try and make the old ones work.

Ken-
The E3 based Si sedan uses L-Jetronic FI as opposed to the D-Jetronic used by your coupe. Also, being a '75 model, there is much less interchange of parts for your '71 like switches and controls than there would be with an earlier E3/Bavaria sedan. Not a whole lot there to recycle for you--though the E3's are becoming popular of late and they are great solid feeling sedans.

Basically swapabel between E3 and E9:

Engine and engine periphery (mind the version though, Coupeking is correct from 75 on the E3 gets L-Jet instead of the D-Jet. The E3 also got 3.2 / 3.3 Liter versions in the long wheelbase version)
clutch
gearbox
diff
front axle
front subframe
steering
wheels
steering wheels
brakes (partially)
fuel supply (fuel Pump etc.)
front main lights
grille

definitely not swapable:
glass
body panels
Interior
rear axle and rear subframe
fuel tank
