3.0csi pricing

i've been trying to find 3.0 cs's or csi's for sale and can't find anything conclusive about how much they should cost.

I would like to find a rust free or as close to as possible model like everyone else. Mileage isn't quite as important as condition(maintenance), id prefer the smaller bumpers, and i'll only drive a manual. I assume these are the same criteria most people look for.

prices i've found range from 4k-20k and i can't really tell why. Can anyone help me with how much I should be paying?

It depends largely on how much you want to put into it immediately after you purchase it.

If you want a runner with some issues but very little rust, think 15k+.
If you want a sorted car with little rust, think 20k+.
If you want a non-runner but good body and interior, think 12k+.

For a concourse car, the range is huge. Some go for 20k, others go for 40k+.

Hard to say. I keep seeing presumably good looking cars on Ebay for
8-12k, but who knows. The E9 is such a nice design that even a
bad specimen has charm.

Now, with a free falling dollar the acquisition cost is getting lower
and the spare parts are getting costlier...Get a perfect one, Bernanke dixit.

I spent "just" $6500 in May on a CSi that ran well and looked "pretty good" with little visible rust. After some hidden rust was discovered, I decided to have it taken down to bare metal, new front fenders, and interior, and I'm into it another 30k before really touching mechanicals (about 500 labor hours). So, I think the aforementioned advice makes sense. You can most certainly find a good runner in the 10 to 12k range, but don't expect it to be perfect. You would probably be better off not doing what I did. Find one in the shape you want, and pay for it. At least then you know what you are spending from the onset - no mystery- although the process has been an adventure and a learning experience, as I worked closely with the resto shop.
