I have a 3.64 (11-40) differential in my '74 that I'll be removing for a lower numerical diff sometime this winter. I assume someone 'may' be interested in having increased 'briskness' in their cars acceleration. Metric Mechanic stated the FI injection engine (called 4.0) built for this car in 1993 had 285 bhp, and an equivalent bump in torque, so I'm going toward lower engine rpm at cruising speeds, installing a diff I bought from another e9 member here. This is NOT an LSD differential.
The diff is quiet, has performed perfectly for me as well as the last two owners (all modifications to driveline made in 1993 by the 2nd previous owner who sold it to his friend in 2006).
Send me a direct e-mail if you have interest with BMW CS differential as the topic. I have not yet set a price. I'd rather it go to an enthusiast here than post it on eBay (after it is removed from the car).
Direct e-mail is: kittyandgary at verizon.net
Cheers,
