picked these up yesterday on The Bay. Just the carbs and the manifold so, since i'll be purchasing the rest of the pieces separately, i wanted to ask you guys where i should look to complete the kit and whether there are certain bits that are certain custom pieces that are better than others (not sure whether the custom jetting and thermostat housing effects anything). I plan on picking up the linkage from JAM or Ireland. The rest... your advice is welcome! Probably should have solicited first but i didnt want to chance missing out on them

Super nice pickup and get rid of your stereo as the awesome intake soundtrack of these triple Webers is all you need or want. For all the ancillary parts, I would try kormans since they have extensive experience and development for the triple Webers. You'll probably need to get the 2002 brake booster to accomodate the air horn filter assemblies.

bert / barry,

thanks. pm'd pete. although i suspect my 9 may already have the tii booster since its gone through the 3.5l swap. is this something that would have been mandatory to do (the booster swap) or is it something you need to have done if you plan to go dcoe? Is there a part number i should be lookingfor or are there tell tale signs that would clue me in to which one i have?

thanks

Hey, I have the filters necessary for that -- brand new, never used -- and will not be using them. Happy to sell if you're interested. Email me off line at schnell540 at yahoo dot com.

Since we are on the 'Triples' topic, I'd like to know if the Tii booster is absolutely mandatory for the triple set-up (specifically 45s) 'with air cleaners' or will the stacks clear the stock booster w/out the air cleaners and stubby velocity stacks. Pierce Manifolds carries some newer items (shorty stacks and low profile mesh screens) that have been dyno tested to flow better than the socks or clearners. The socks/cleaners have noticably impared the flow on my brother's car w/ dcoes. He runs the new low profile mesh screens on stock stacks if anything at all (a dusty/desert track set-up).

I'm trying to examine in detail the triples/brake booster 'Pandora's Box' scenario...will some very low profile stacks fit/clear a stock booster? Is it dependent on the manifold/carb/v. stack stack height? Anyone got a max . stack height measurement to share?

TIA

I think that 40s and 45s are the same physical size. I have 40s on my CS with stock booster and what I think are Ramflow filters. There is not enough room for stacks on the rear carb, unless you trim them.

Great buy well done, your gonna be blown away by the induction roar It'll sound awesome! When you get the throttle linkage make sure you get some tumpets (also known as bell mouths) at the same time performance will be down without them.

Have you got trumpets/air horns installed? If so, I would really like to see a picture of how this was done.

Essex Racer M30 with Weber 45 DCOEs, trumpets, and a Tii booster.

I am still curious to know the answer to Shannon's question, which I will re-phrase as: "Is there any air filter that can be fitted to a DCOE carburetor which will clear the stock brake booster? Or, is it mandatory to go with the smaller tii booster when running DCOE's?"

I think I may have answered my own question last nite snooping around on the Pierce Manifolds site.

Here is my hypothetical set-up for a stock brake booster:

- Stock velocity stacks I believe are @ 75mm tall. Pierce offers some 'low profile 'trumpets" for the DCOE (both 40s & 45s) that are 13mm & 40mm high, plus their air horn filters (#99217.250 - offer much more flow than the filters or socks, my brothers and I have varified this)

http://www.piercemanifolds.com/airfilters.htm

My conclusion based soley on the info posted at Pierce is that the manifold+carb+low-profile trumpet set-up should be less than the usual assembly with airhorns + sock or an aircleaner. The other unknown variable is that I think there are more than one type of manifolds for the triple set-up (Weber kit, Korman, Alpina, etc)...are they all the same height??

If Mr. Riblett said he got his triples on with the stock booster & Ramflow filters, then I'd bet the low-profile trumpet set-up could work, if it doesn't then just put on the Ramflows....

....but them airhorn/trumpets sure are bitchen!!

(currently enjoying with my dual 38s...but I think my cam ultimately wants the triples.)

Sorry don't have carbs fitted I'm on injection, I was speaking from experience whilst recalling fond memories of a 4 cylinder car I had that had DCOEs fitted. I am however going to fit individual throttle bodies which will have ram pipes/ velocity stacks fitted.

There is a filter with a mesh screen which fits over the foam filter element which will fit with the 3.0 brake booster. The brand name is Ramflow. Here is a link to an example (the 400 series):

Bill:

OK, that answered my question. Thanks!

Note that a very similar filter is sold by Weiand - visually from pictures on the web, it looks identical to the RamFlo - and the price for Weiands is a bit lower. I'm running Weiands on the DCOE's on my Alfa and they seem to work OK - you certainly get that DCOE music with them!
