I have looked and looked for 3 inch or 2 3/4 inch wide elastic seat webbing with out any luck. I have spoken to a half dozen upholstery shops including Automat in Hicksville, NY and also McMaster – Carr the industrial supply giant. My Recaro seats have 2 3/4 inch webbing but 3 inch will easily fit the clips. Every upholstery shop I speak to carries only 2 inch webbing. My Recaros are over 20 years old so I want to give the aging foam the same or even better support...... not less support that the 2 inch webbing would give it. Google searches have located a Chinese manufacturer but no supplier that will sell me 20 or 30 feet. If anyone knows of a source I would certainly appreciate the contact information. Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas :grin::grin:. ~ John Buchtenkirch

3 inch wide webbing

Hi John,, I have a huge roll of 2 1/4 wide webbing that I used to re-do a Italian
couch and if you would like I can send you a piece of it to see. I also
Have the clips for it. In my application, you crimp the clips over the webbing, and then
slide the completed strips into a groce in the frame of the couch. The color of the
Webbing is black with a thin red line. I could send you a pic but I still haven't mastered
Posting pics to this web site.

If you give me your email address I can send you a picture.

Aardvark sells repair webbing kits for Recaros. Also known as 200ad.com in the links section.

Merry Christmas to all...

Thanks for the help guys. I emailed Aardvark and their replacement belting is also only 2 inches wide. I'm still going to hold out for 3 inch or two and three-quarter inch belting, otherwise I figure I will have to make up new clips for the 2 inch belting and drill new holes in my seat frame so I can run the 2 inch belting closer together. I really feel it's a bad deal to have less support (narrower belting) under 20 year old foam seat cushions. I think the only thing you're going to do is speed up the deterioration of the foam cushion to the point that the seats can't be used anymore. I have sent an email directly to Recaro, so I wait to see what they suggest. ~ John Buchtenkirch

Perelli Mat

When I reupholstered my Recaro's I bought something from a local Recaro vendor called a Pirelli Mat. It's a one piece assembly made by Pirelli that hooks into the existing seat frame holes.

The shop is In Raleigh NC it's called Auto Sport Gallery, the owner is Tom Bishop

Now that sounds like the way to go, no webbing edges to cut into dried out 20-year-old foam seat cushions sounds like it could only be a good thing :-D:-D:-D. Thanks for the information, I will have to call on that. ~ John Buchtenkirch
