This rare 3.0CSL is for sale locally for $4,800 and it seems like a good deal... The paint will buff/polish and the engine and trans are rebuilt. The car is a true lightweight... Read on:-D
The car is definitely a light weight E9 not because of aluminum hoods and doors (which it does not have) but because the engine and trans are rebuilt unfortunately they are in another car! No engine or trans probably lightens the car by over 800 pounds. The paint will buff but ultimately it will no longer be attached to the car which will also lighten the car by another 60 pounds.
The minor rust issues also remove metal which is heavy. Everyone knows that rust is very light and always getting lighter as more pieces fall off! These areas are easily repaired with time, extreme patience and crazy glue.
The owner is in the car over $4,000 how I do not know... Maybe storage costs?
