50 years ago today I bought my 2002, and joined the BMWCCA. Today I spent 5 hours in the garage cleaning the paint & interior. The car has not been out of the garage or started in about 25+ years. My time and $$$ have been spent on the Coupe and fishing trips to 5 countries in South America. Here are pics of the car. The paint in the engine bay is original. The drivetrain is original. I couldn't afford a CS back in my 20's,so I tried to make the 2002 look like one--fender Talbot mirrors,blacked-out grills, wood dash and trim, Euro bumpers.

Amazing!! Love the upgrades and especially the interior. The Lux door cards and the wood on the dash make it look a little e9ish.

Drew, You need to remove the ballast resistor if you are going to keep using the blue coil, the blue coil is internally resisted. Beautiful 02!
Chris--I knew you would like the color...The clear coat over the Malaga was never done back when it was painted. Thanks for the ballast tip. The car needs lots of mechanical restoration before it's on the road again.

Vince-The cherry veneer wood trim was my poor man's imitation of the ultra-expensive Coupe. I actually sold the wood trim kits to other BMWCCA members through the Roundel back in the early '70's.

SOooooo nice!!! Are those original, optional Scheel Sport seats??? Unobtanium!

Get it running!

Ed--I bought those seats in 1984 after a BMWCCA trip to Germany in 1983. I bought the light tan OEM 1974 vinyl over there and had the seats done with the vinyl. I don't believe they were a factory option back in 1972. Now I'm thinking of putting them in my CS if they will fit. They're too nice to just be sitting in the garage.

plus one for Malaga 02s. I love your seats too!
When I installed pertronix electronic ignition in my 73 02 I also added a Bosch blue coil and bypassed the external ballast resister.
