Hi
Riddle me this...cuz I am very close to a 'reciprocating saw and metal blade' fix to 'removing' the torque converter bolts from the flexplate. The 17 mm bolts are placed in very awkwardly with practically no room for a socket, extension and breaker bar.

Thank you Forum!

Regards,
Bill

Will a long 17mm box wrench work? When assembling my 2002 I think I removed oil pan before installing trans to motor to give me more room due to that concern.

Hi
Thx!
I have not found that sweet spot; I have only found a spot through the starter hole for a universal joint socket on a big angle; not ideal; the uni joint greatly decreases the torque I can apply and there’s a big chance of rounding off bolt heads. A offset box wrench might work.

Flex plate cover

Hi
Thx!
The tranny is out. All that remains are the torque converter and flexplate. To remove the flexplate, the torque converter needs to be removed from the flexplate. I going to swing by Princess Auto and pick up an offset box wrench....

Regards,
Bill

On the B35 motors there is a hole on the exhaust (passenger) side of the rear flange that you can use to get a socket on the converter bolts. There is a rubber plug in this hole.
