It is my understanding that a Getrag 265 5 speed transmission is a good and straightforward overdrive transmission swap into the E-9.

I have been provided a Getrag 2620051090 225 1.3; Is this usable in the E-9 and what is it from?

Thanks!

Transmission

I have a 260/5 for mine, I'm not sure what the other is, what'd it come from?

Relatively straightforward. The problem with the OD 5-speed swaps is console interference. CoupeKing used to sell a revised shift surround that fixed the issue, might still be available.

You will also have to shorten the driveshaft by an inch or so plus rebalance it. You need to find a driveshaft shop that's done this before. Aren't you in Texas? There's a shop here in Hootin that knows how to do it

They are doing it in New York at the shop Hunting Ridge uses.

Have learned a lot about transmissions and case numbers in the last 2 hours; Now pretty sure that the 262 case part is used on the 265 transmission - just have to figure out if it is the CR (dogleg) or overdrive(non-dogleg) box.

Short shifter

Installing a short shift kit (like from UUC motors) will solve the clearance issue.

IIRC the driveshaft gets shortened by around 3-3/4".

Search the forum - there should be some info on identifying OD and CR transmissions.

not sure if anybody has mentioned this, you will need to replace the speedo cable. the 4 speed cable will be too short for the 5 speed box. you have to use the cable from an auto tranny

This should help,
