Sotheby is auctioning long time collection from Porsche Wrecking Yard in SoCal. This 1957 503 is one of the better condition cars in the auction. Lots of rare cars in basket case condition. Even 2 rough Lambo Miuras available.

Interesting. Enough people think I am detective Columbo, if I drive that car it will fully confirm it.

Always wanted one...
Cheapest way to say you have a Ferrari 275 ?

Maybe when I'm done with my e9

Incredible, hundreds of high end exotics and parts apparently just left outside to gradually return to the earth. 1956 alloy gullwing estimate $4-6M

For many of these - you are basically just purchasing a VIN - so to speak....
To get some of these to be remotely restored, you'd have to remanufacture the car from the ground up.
That's my take anyway...

I bought some parts for my SL from him that I was pleased with, namely an axle. I was going to rebuild it anyway but it came in surprisingly good condition. I'd enjoy just walking around the yard given the opportunity... wasn't there some kind of story about this place where some Ferrari was towed there after a wreck in the 60s and it was found and restored? I seem to recall it was a really high buck car.

Agreed. Walking that junkyard would certainly be a blast. But it’s seems very few were ever given the opportunity. Original owner was quite an eccentric, as hoarders tend to be. He passed away in 2001, but he did allow a German photographer in the yard in the 1990’s. He published the book in Germany in 2017. Now available in English as well. Available on Amazon for $20. Next best thing to being there? I ordered one.
