For sale, one NOS, but restored anyway, very good end section of tailpipe.
Tube is Part no 10 in the bmw parts book image, part no 18111245339.
Matching tip and bracket.

The pipe measures 55mm diameter. Hence it is for the 2.5 and 2.8 engine models.
(It does work on an 3.0, but i think it will limit engine performance in the 6000 rpm region....)

When I purchased it it still had the original dull grey coating, but with some rust spots from storage.

As I was unaware that it had the incorrect diameter for my car, I prepped it to go under my own car....

All surface spots were grounded out with a flat grinder and rattle can painted with industry high temp paint. It has been hinging on my ceiling since 5 years now, and no rust whatsoever

Comes with new chrome end tip and 55 mm pipe bracket (dealer purchased, for something like ~18+3 euro).

Located in the Netherlands, willing to ship anywhere.

Selling it because @Keshav was so kind as to hint me towards a correct NOS 60mm part.
.

Sorry to side track, but what is the part no. of the correct 60mm diameter part Markos helped you source?
Checking on realoem, 18111245339 is listed as the correct part for all the 3 litre cars, CS, CSi, CSL & CSiL, and the 2.5 and 2.8 cars have a different tail pipe part number (with a different rear silencer/muffler)

confused.

NOS but restored?

yep. NOS parts sometime do look they are already dead for a few years.....:)
You don't want to see how a NOS rear quarter panel can look like after 45 years in storage, you wouldn't just spray some nice Fjord or Inca over that one!

Attached:
- the rusted part on my car & the NOS part i purchased in 2015.
- the NOS part cleaned prior to paint
- the painted NOS with chrome end piece as now for sale

Drew, thanks for flagging: I checked RealOEM:
- looking up a 2.5 CS model it spits out 55 mm = 18111104642
- looking up a 3.0 CS model it spits out 55 mm = 18111245339. The 60 mm is not specifically listed.

I'm not sure why there is no 60 mm part number listed. Neither do i understand why there are 2 different numbers for the same 55mm part.
I can check my parts books later. The 60 mm NOS pipe I now have has no label or partnumber unfortunatly, so that's no opening either.

Because a 55mm tail pipe can be bolted up to the standard muffler on any coupe, RealOEM leads one to believe that is the correct part on a 3.0, it is not and hasn’t been available for a while.

I brought this up in a general post because I just measured mine and it is indeed 55mm and it is a 73 3.0......so I thought maybe a discussion in that section may reach more members.
