Hello,
Although, I have been an active reader of this forum for a number of years, and have found the information invaluable, this is my first posting. I am hoping to get some guidance with an electrical problem my car is currently having....I just got my car back from the shop where I had the plugs, wires and points changed. I do not know if there is any connection( although it seems likely) but my #6 fuse keeps blowing as soon as I move the key to the first ignition position. Any thoughts or guidance as to what the issue may be, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

These are the circuitries that are connected to fuse #6: screen wiper motor, screen washer, stop lights, turn signal indicators, reversing lights and lastly...horn relay.

There could be a short in any of these circuits, but you should check the screen washer pump first for any shorts in the wiring since the whole reservoir/pump assembly had to be removed and isolated for any plug and wire work. It maybe the technician had removed the wiring contacts from the pump and had forgotten to reattached them. They maybe making direct contact, hence the immediate blowing of the fuse when ignition is turned on.

I checked the washer pump wiring after work today and sure enough that was the problem. It is a relief to not have to begin the tedious task of investigating the source of the short in the various circuits/switches. Thanks again Bert!!

You're very welcome! Glad to be of some assistance. Simple electrical fixes are the greatest... aren't they?
