Took a while but managed to pick up a CS, body
almost restored ..motor knocking.

Picked up a wrecked 1991 M5 and 86 535i.

I have looked around a bit here and have found a lot of info here
on swaps. From the suspension to you name it.

First I pulled the suspension out of the 535i,
measured up the frames ect. was smiling when everthing
was the same as the E9.

Had a LSD out of a 1980 ish 733.
just for fun drilled out the rear axel carrier holes on the 535i and bolted up the 733 Posi.
Went to bolt the output shafts but thay did not fit.
Scratched my head for a minute or two.
Ended up swapping the drive flanges from the M5
with the ones on the 733. The output shafts bolted up just fine.
Then measured the trailing arms from the M5. they looked like the
would bolt up to the 535 rear axel carrier also.
Stopped there just to take a break...I think I'm loosing it.
If they bolted up I could have the M5 brakes in the rear.
It came with the self levelling suspension.......

Picked up a 265/6 trans and clutch from a 85 535i.
Don't know if it is good or not...car was at the local wreckers.
Seems to shift fine......

Sorry for rambling on here a bit....now comes the questions.

Any one here have some knowledge on rebuilding the 265/6?

The M5 break parts, a good idea or am I going overboard?
Have not measured up the front suspesnion parts yet, but the 535i
suspension seems to be the same as the E9.
The M5 steering box look's like it will bolt up too. when I get a chance I'll varify this one.

Going to do the swap over the winter. Get all the suspension parts
cleaned up and painted. then start bolting up. Looking forward to
the M5 motor swap.....

thanks ahead of time for any advice and knowledge any one wants to share.
