72 bumper question

I have heard that the 72 c9 bumpers differ from a 73. I just had my 72 front bumpers rechromed as well as a set of used bumperettes. The bumperettes seem too big for the bumper and have a gap between the bumper and the bumperette. It looks "OK", but I would not be able to add the rubber between the pieces since the gap is too large. Do I have 73 bumperettes and a 72 bumper? Or vice-versa?

The bumperettes are identical, the only difference in the US is the larger inverted rubber piece. They can be flipped over left to right so make sure they are right side up. And US only had longer bumper braces in 73 only. Hope you don't have e3 bumperettes.
