72 CS on ebay, Modesto CA

I have a gut feeling that car has very low SO Cal levels of corrosion. Not that a photo will tell all, but what I see looks pretty clean to me. Not sure why the floor is painted in that light colour. Worth checking out in my opinion.

Any thoughts on rust? Shock towers look pretty good. The cracks by the firewall - is that just chipped paint or more serious?

You mean this photo? That's just the sound insulating material - not metal.

I agree with Nicad - the car does look pretty rust-free. It also looks fairly original, and well taken care of. Even the tool box is complete!

Something is going on under the paint as evidenced by the bubbling but it may not be too bad. Agree with Jay, very original. Seller is selling for parents, did the parents install that monster amp in the trunk?

:)

I think the oil pan and engin bottom too clean after 50,000 miles and 17 years on the road after rebuilt.

The seller was a total pain in the ass. I contacted them several times with NO response. They would NOT communicate. I took a chance anyway. I bought it and have it coming back to me next week. I thought it looked really nice, clean, straight and very original. I also think the market will catch on soon enough. At least I hope so. I plan on buying several more good rust free cars.
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this on the forum before or not so excuse me if I am repeating.........The Art of Racing in the Rain willbe made into a movie soon by Patrick Dempsey. If they are true to the book you know what he will be driving in the movie. If the movie will be half as good as the book, it'll be a huge hit!!! I think Patrick is PERFECT for the part.
Anyway, I will post photos when I get it. I will take care of the surface, and I am hoping only surface, imperfections and go through it mechanically when it arrives. Not going to sell my Sienna Brun but if this had a roof, I'd be tempted.
I am a buyer for good straight rust free cars. I'd rather buy these than put it in the market. A HELL of a lot more fun.......To be continued......

Nice purchase ny30cs. You have some serious ebay skills (bidding 1 second before the listing ended, knowing the reserve was 19k because of a prior listing). Hope it's as clean as it looks! I'm local and was excited to go take a look if it didn't meet reserve.

Thanks.........Time will tell......It's on it's way back to me now. We will see......

3.0CS from Modesto arrives!

Car is back here and I am truly impressed!!!! It is an excellent example with all original interior, excellent wood, chrome, suspension and well sorted.
MUCH better than I anticipated. Very little to do to sort it out. It was repainted and I wish it were of a higher standard but it's not worth repainting.
I think I have it sold already.......Looks awfully nice next to my 74 Sienna Brown car. Wish I could keep them all......
