My 72 csi has engine stamping # that reads: 3.0-3.3

Does this indicate motor may have been changed out

That's

a casting designation relating to a series of that engine size. What you're looking for is the numbers above the starter area on a flat pad area. it's just above the timing window.

With those you can tell more.
