I've never seen double trim lines on the sides, probably covering a paint line repair.

some people added that on to protect against door dings from other cars. always thought they looked as what they are - tack ons ... if you just park the car away from others, its not needed

I had those protective strips on my 68 Camaro Convertible back in the day - early 80s. Seems like every new car had them then and if you had your car repainted, the body shop would talk the owners into them.
