He is over reaching a bit on price or am I just out of touch as to where coupe values have gone over the last few years?

I hope he get it!

can you say - moneypit? but hey, there are 2 red handled screwdrivers in the box. i have seen cars in much better shape only fetch $6000 to $7500. must be the screwdrivers

Now that is the way you take pictures of a car for sale! Looks like a good base, wow that thing needs some serious TLC.

I saw the car a few weeks ago in the flesh. It looks worse in person. The paint is shot, and the interior is in shambles. I spoke to Jack Hunt who owns the dealership. He said that it had been previously sold to someone out of South America for $7,500. Guess the deal fell out. Now he is asking much more. Go figure.

Is this car at the dealership on Bryant St in SF? I went to see that several months ago. My impression is still in the older thread, but what I remember most now is that they didn't want to start it.

No.....a different car. The one on Bryant appears to be in much better shape...same color car. The one in the pictures is at Jack L. Hunt in San Rafael.

Is it just that I am from a rust belt, but that car looks pretty decent to me? Just needs 20K in cosmetics and Glass. It looks good on a hoist and that is what turns my crank.

Personally, I think its a good start; however, not for the price. I think the original selling price, i.e., $7500 is more in the ball park.

Do the math.

$20k in cosmetics and glass plus the $12,500 purchase price works out to $32.5k. I would think you could get a much nicer already restored one for that price :-D

I have to say, I started looking at that car from the link above (under the trunk) and I saw the entire underside before seeing the interior. If you separated the top photos from the underside photos you'd probably think it was two different cars. Weird.

Agreed. Maybe you could just drive it as a currently in style Rat E9.
