Having a heck of time with this issue. Replaced the leaky seals and cannot get the sunroof/headliner to coordinate. Per the position of the below front bracket Flanges down there is enough room for the sliding headliner to be positioned under the slide BUT the front of the sun roof when closed is way elevated and the back will not flip up. Flipping the brackets over (flanges up) the sunroof operates properly and correctly closes BUT there is no room for the sliding headline to fit below the slides.

HUMMMM - Help please.

I know you always do your research before reaching out. I trust you replaced the seals in the right orientation etc. There is a 2002 FAQ post on redoing all this but I also found this fwiw.

I have said before, Hagerty values say subtract 20% for automatic, add 15% for sunroof..........I think it should be 25% for such reasons as yours.

Thanks for the replies. I saw that video and used his examples. When I flip the guides, flange down, over one major problem the front edge of the sliding roof is proud to the body when closed by 1/4 inch or more and the rear of the sunroof does not close - if the front will not align the rear will not close. With the flanges down per the video, it takes massive adjustment of the knurl nuts to get closing close but not complete this is putting a lot of strain on the motor as the sliding friction increases dramatically.

Still perplexed!!

The winding handle has a stop. It may be reaching the stop before the rear lifts.

If I lived near you I’d come over & help sort it out.

Assume the seals are in the correct orientation. My assumption was, as the roof rises, it fits into the vertical part of the "P" and pushes up against the top of the "P" to make a seal. If it was flush with the roofline, it did not close all the way, few mm short in the front and it stopped the rear from rising. Here is mine after finally getting it set. It may actually be too high but it worked and I'll live with it.

I followed your lead and went to battle with dang thing. Mine is set up with the flange of the forward slides facing down. I tightened the gap of the two front slides evened out the knurl nuts so they are basically parallel to the roof. The rear cable attachments changed the lift feature to the shortest possible.

Its 19°F here so the seals are really hard. But it seems to now function acceptable after a lot of cuss words.

Thanks!
