Hi. I dropped by BMW of San Francisco to check out a Fjord coupe they have on the showroom floor owned by one of the principals at the dealership...same owner as the Tundra 2800 CS I posted about a number of weeks ago. They are asking $17,000. Anyway, I have posted pics of the car. Hoping for some input from those who have restored their coupes as to the expected cost to bring this one up to snuff and what to pay for this car. Here are the issues that I noted. Looks to be an original Fjord car, with manual transmission and crank sunroof. Looks to have been resprayed at one point. Paint on car is completely checked, with some overspray on gaskets. Lots of dents and dings in the body. Interior dash and wood OK but front seat leather is shot and needs to be recovered. Rear seats OK. Rust bubbles on passenger side top of fender. Rust coming through at base of windshield on driver side. Looks like car may have been T-Boned on passenger side. Door glass did extended about 1/2" past the edge of the window seal and door gaps on that side were tight. Opposite on driver side where door gaps looked good and edge of window glass lined up with the window seal. Did not drive the car as it was on the floor and did not have the time..salesman says it drives well. Major gas smell in trunk. Overall, I did not see a lot of major rust issues, but car needs to be put up on a rack to take a look. So, as I see it, the positives are original Fjord car with manual tranny and sunroof. Needs some rust repair and all new paint and seals. New carpet and leather on front seats. Do not know what to expect re. the mechanicals. Any thoughts on cost to bring this up to a nice "driver" condition and what to pay for the car? Thanks!
