Back in 1980 my speedo quit working it was removed and sent to a local shop for repair. It never again has been accurate above 35 MPH. Since then a 5 speed trans was installed the speedo is still as inaccurate. Pursuing the posts there are many addressing the 5 speed conversion this does not resolve.

If I have to remove and replace the speedo what is my best solution.

Thanks!!

I used to walk by Palo Alto Speedometer on the way to lunch - nice looking place. If you search for it on this forum it looks like a lot of people use them.

The info section of this forum has some good information for what speedo goes with transmission/ rear end ratios for US and others.

I thought you went digital?

Haste not! My speedo has been acting epileptic for half a year, then it would just go all the way to 150 MPH when driving 20 MPH and I was ready to remove it myself and bring it to Palo Alto for repairs. Last night I brought the car over Hwy 17 and the speedo has totally healed, smooth needle as if it were electronic. Good things happen to those who wait...
See the picture, yes the left instrument gets foggy on cold nights but again if I wait it heals...
