'73 tiis in LA and SF

A nice combo for a Halloween parade. Isn't Orange the new black?

Myself, at first glance...I would pick the Orange one.

I thought ti's were over 20K$ so if I was in hunting mode, I might have to put in my moccasins.

I have never owned an 02 and a coupe At the same time. Or at least running ones:-D.
Two so distinctly different but great drives.

snorkle

Look at picture 5, far right..round sheetmetal inlet was intended for hose to air filter assembly for carbed cars. FI tii's didn't have that as part of the nose, which means that probably the car has a new nose (accident damage?...) or isn't a tii chassis. VIN would tell. Since the car has tii dash (clock that is right twice a day) and tii engine, it is probably the former, not the latter. (*note, tho, that some in the 02 community believe that a few "snorkled" tii's may have sneaked through production when shortages occurred...who knows...)
Failing black paint over Malaga...
Boots and eyeballs on the ground would be smart PPI.

Thanks, found it. There must have been one of those on my 1971 1600. So that seems to mean this was not a tii from the factory. Or could it be a radiator swap and the car is all tii? Or...?

You guys have good eyes. I knew to look for snorkel and didn't spot it.
If its not between said, my understanding is that replacement nose parts all had snorkels, so seeing one on a tii suggests accident damage.
Perhaps not surprisingly ad for orange car now deleted.

I've read that most but not all real Tii's had no snorkel thus leaving some gray area. True?

Yes, this is true from what Mike Self & Delia Wolf have written on the 2002 FAQ, some Tiis left the factory with 'snorkle noses'. I was under the impression that a 'snorkle nose' meant nose replacement due to rust or damage.

My '73 Tii, Vern, does not have a snorkle.

Front end inconsistencies

Claims to be a '73 but bumper overriders are from an earlier car, not the '73-specific rubber (similar to the '73-specific overriders on our E9's). Does not appear to have the shallow grilles that also are unique to '73, although it's a little hard to tell from the photo angle. As always, caveat emptor.

BMW wouldn't have stuck a snorkel nose on a Tii because it was just laying around, I think that story is an old wive's tale.

Drivers cars

On a serious note....both these cars seem anemic....
