Vermont is the new Montana..for now.

Montana is still Montana. You form an LLC in Montana and title the car there but domiclie it and use it in another state.. Montana plates stay on the car. You (hopefully) dodge emissions requirements and taxes in the state you actually live in.

Vermont was used to "launder" titles. You titled the car in Vermont without having to live there or have insurance on the car, then quickly used the Vermont title to obtain a title in your home state. It enabled you to title a car that didn't have a title.

But if it already has a Vermont title it does not matter that they closed the loophole. You can transfer it to your own state I guess...
 
When I moved to Rhode Island and registered my coupe, they wouldn't even look at my Massachusetts title. All they wanted to see was the Massachusetts registration.
