Please help, Drivers seat won't fold forward lever does not seem to disengage seat so you can fold forward? How do I get it to fold can't figure out how to access the mechanism to do so...

Thanks

Slide seat forward. Use a screwdriver to release one latch and then put pressure on seat to keep it forward and then reach the inner/tunnel side latch.

HBChris has described unlatching the seat back so that it folds. If you are attempting to fix the problem, it is likely to be the cable linking the lever to the seat back's locking mechanism (at the pivot point of the seat).

Most often, the cable breaks, stretches or becomes disconnected, thereby preventing full operation/movement of the seat back mechanism. If the release lever is slack (without tension) this is generally a sign that the cable is the problem. The graphics below give a slight indication of what is involved. Look closely and you will note the looped end of the above mentioned cable.
If you are lucky, the old cable is intact and you can leave it in place and eventually use it to thread a replacement cable in the same location up/down the seat side.

Although the cable is the likeliest culprit, other linkage parts are fair game - especially after 4 decades. If the seats have not been otherwise molested, other mysteries may await. I once found a misplaced pfennig that prevented a seat back from reclining. And then there was the tiny comb loaded with hair found in a defrost duct. . . .

Gently

pull the seat back while operating the lever to see if you can take up the slack of the cable and release.

Take the screws off the cover plate for the operating lever that's probably broken so you get a little more streach.
