Joseph at Munich Motorworks is who I bought my car from. He is a bit of a character. Kind of gruff, but along with that comes straightforwardness and enthusiasm. In the (second) Craig's list ad for the car he wrote something along the lines of "This car had a ridiculous after-market stereo installed. It's causing problems so I'm tearing it all out and throwing it away." I think that statement captures his personality fairly well. I found him to be honest and knowledgable, and he fixed a lot of things on the car when I bought it.
Munich Motorworks, his shop, specializes in servicing European makes. They still work on older cars, and seem to really enjoy it. It's becoming increasingly difficult to find a shop that will even touch a car that was made before the 90s. Selling cars is kind of a side hustle. He tends to be attracted to interesting Euro cars with a few warts, and also the occasional JDM small van (especially before they were so ubiquitous out here).
Stan - I expect if you asked the seller you'd get a pretty honest and direct answer about it's suitability for a cross-country drive. Shipping it would probably save a decent amount of money and alleviate any worries about breaking down far from any place that could help get you going again though.
Feel free to PM me if you have any questions about my experience.
