87 M6 parts/project car

I sent the guy a couple of notes, agreeing that it is somewhat "rare", but not agreeing that it is "worth a lot of money"...made an offer and probably really pissed him off...Also told him that I would offer more if I could leave the carcass in NJ...I await a response, but since it's Craigslist, it often is an eternal wait...

As a side note, I just had my e9 parts car dragged to the house, instead of at a friends business, that has maybe even more, ahem, patina than the m6...as the "Piano Man" says, "..it is sad and its sweet, and I knew it complete, when I wore a younger man's clothes..." Maybe I'll do a 12 photo calendar ala Hemmings of her...
 
Barn Find

You have to smile when the owner makes absolutely NO attempt to clean out the interior or the leaves and twigs in the engine compartment. Well barn finds are apparently the flavor of the day at even the high end auctions so maybe he did not want to disturb the patina. The unfortunate (or fortunate depending if you are a seller or buyer) reality is that $20K can buy a very nice e24 M6 although prices are beginning to rise - remember when 5 years ago $20K could buy a pretty nice e9.

An honest presentation. And yes it is rare, particularly in this condition.
 
So he claims the car has 84k miles when the odometer shows 130k plus???? Am I missing something? Did he blow the original engine and transmission at 40k miles and replace both??

If it is Cdn spec, the odometer would be in KM, which is correct.

only difference to a US spec 87 M6, speedo in km, not miles . .

IMO, you really need this car for parts to save an already bad US Spec M6 . .

EASY . .. send your existing unit to Hollywood Speedo and have it swapped . . I believe they can do that . ..
likely a unit like the one in that rusty hulk will be no good and will require a complete rebuild . . BTDT . . .
