so i pulled the engine from my father's e9 today. everything went smoothly until it came time to clear the A/C bracket over the front wall. had to pry a bit to get the bracket (compressor removed) over the wall. Does anyone have any any advice as to how we go about re installing the new engine? seems it will be problematic going in like it was coming out. the issue is a hidden bolt that is inaccesible on the bracket. removed 3 other bolts that were holding it on, but couldn't reach the 4th with the engine installed. shoudl i just remove the hidden bolt when out and reinstall the bracket with the other 3 accessible bolts once the new engine is installed?

appreciate any advice. trying to keep the lid on pandora's box as much as possible between now and when we get around to installing the new engine.

TIA

Hi Klerk
This may sound to be a painful way of doing things but the way I got the engine out was to take the body off the engine!!!!
After disconnecting the usual stuff this is what I did...
1.. jack car up, support it well
2.. Removed the steering arms / PS hoses / front struts/ steering shaft from the steering box
3.. placed a trolley under the front sub frame.
4.. lowered car till wieght was on the trolley, removed 4 subframe bolts
5.. Using a suitable hoist lifted the whole car and pulled the engine and box from underneath.

I used blocks of wood under the turret top openings and a sling around them as the lift point

sounds perfect malc.......now if i only had a lift. one day. still thinking of how i can manage the re-install in a more appropriate fashion. thinking of removing the main pulley along with the a/c compressor for reinstall. removing the main pulley should give me better access to the "hidden bolt" on the a/c bracket.
