I'm looking to upgrade my A/C system which has never worked very well - especially in the hot Florida summer.
I've already changed to a newer rotary compressor, but I'm interested in going with a bigger condenser and possibly looking an more efficient evaporator. Has anyone made any changes to their system that they would recommend?

What bracket and compressor did you use?

There are a couple of evaporator/condenser threads here, try a search to get a starting point.

A/C

First check what discharge temp you have at the the outlets/ console. A normally well working system will reach 40-42 degrees. Restrictions come next, which are checked by guages. ( pump/thermostatic valve / filter) and last but not least black death= junk- requires a flush of the system.

The story goes that the temperature switch, on the back has a hole covered that you can dial down.... I personally bypass my heater for most of the year. 1/2" copper pipe and two clamps.. yes.. it does help. PIA though for the few times it gets cold here.

Crossflow or "paralell" sp? condenser is what you're looking for. Especially 134. This type of condenser has more cooling area and results in cooler gas which helps the compressor. Think of it as operating at 75 degrees outdoor vs. 95 or Miami heat.
