A nice E9 wheel option gallery on the E9 FB page

I think I like number 5 best. Those are 14's? If so, then I'd say the 15" repro version might be better as you can still find good 15" tires.

Very cool to see the many different wheel combos. I recently put these 16s on... They are not the final wheel for the car but acquired them on the E12 I bought and thought to try them on the E9. While the gold centers have never been my preference, I actually don't mind it as contrast with the blue.

Funny you should post this today! Are those BBS RZ 394's? I was just chatting with a member/buyer today on the phone and mentioned that I really like these wheels. I've only seen one other coupe with those wheels and it was a 2 sec car show video clip on youtube. They are 8.5" wide and came on 850's.

Thanks for the compliments all! Not bad for a temporary wheel while I wait for my finals :-D To answer the question, they are a BBS RZ 418. They are 16 x 7.5j with an ET13. You could say that they are the same as the RZ 394, but the dish is not quite as deep as the 394. What would be good is to pair up a set of these with the 394s as a staggered set!

Hi @WISE9UY-- Just came across this in the archives and love these. I have a set of BBS RZ416s I'm getting ready to put on my coupe (pic below), and they're also 7.5x16”, ET13. Wanted to see what tire size you went with and how you're experience has been. Same size front and back, or wider in back? Any rubbing, and/or did you roll your fenders at all?

Thanks!

Steven, take a look at the FAQ section, there is a specific thread on different wheel + tire sizes from original 14's up to 17's. while i don't have the RZ 16" wheel listed, the M5 style 5 is. you can run the staggered size tires on the same wheels or you can run the front size all around. please pay attention to the notes on rolled lips / camber plates.

Thanks very much @rsporsche. I am very familiar with the FAQ and the recommended tire sizes. As there are multiple options, was hoping to get some human experience input, which can vary based on choices and Can’t be gleaned from the spec sheet.

Any experience feedback welcome!

Hi @Steven. I disagree that the FAQ doesn’t tell you what you need to know...

Numerous members have experienced rubbing with 7x16 ET11 on 205’s - and the FAQ outlines this. They recommend rolling the fenders and (if needed) adding negative camber plates.

Your 7.5x16 ET13 will clear the strut fine, but you will be a little over 4mm closer to the fender than a 7x16 ET11. The 4mm comes from taking the extra half inch of your wheel, which is 12.7mm total. Split that in half, for the inner and outer lip. That gets you 6.35mm extra over a 7” wheel. Since you are ET13 and not ET11, you are 2mm closer to the strut (which is helpful). 6.35mm - 2mm = 4.35mm. Soooo, if a 7” wheel rubs and you will be 4mm closer to the fender, expect to rub.

No it isn’t “real world” feedback. Not everybody likes performing wheel math, but you already have data that suggests the wheels will rub. Yours will just rub more.

Thanks for this Markos, I do appreciate it. And I did not mean for my post to in any way few passive aggressive; apologies to @rsporsche if it felt that way at all. Print never quite captures the nuance of a conversation.
