A Pillar Number

Hi All

Question??? Have at last removed all of the paint of the coupe and she is now at the painters (Yep eh, it's only been about 3 years, 2 rolls of mig wire, 30 odd grinding disks and many, many, many hours of work) while I was doing this I took of the Karmann build plate and found a 4 digit number underneath, what is this??

What was the number? All coupes got a piece of paper glued to the bulkhead behind the rear passenger seat, automatics were 3436 (4 speeds 3435?), could this be the number?

Number is 9867, and no the paper behind the back seat is long gone

I believe this was a Karman body number rather than the chassis number assigned to the car. A karman VIN if you like.
