Hi all. I pulled my engine/trans yesterday and before I remove the AC components to clean and prep the engine bay for paint, I wanted to get an explanation of an AC part... I've read a bunch of the threads here for replacing and upgrading the AC, which I'll be doing, but in regards to the tank in line with the drier...on RealOEM, it labeled it as a vibration damper? Can someone fill me in on what it does in the system? Most cars seem to only have a drier on the fender..

With a York pump I think it helped reduce pulsing/vibrations when pump cycled on and off. Not needed when upgrading your system and not available anyways. It sure looks like a drier without a sight glass though.

Yes, the York compressor has only a single piston; the dampener is there to reduce the pulsing it creates as it runs. I just replaced mine with a multi-piston compressor which cycles more smoothly and does not require a dampener.

Awesome! Thanks guys. I was hoping that was the case. Less AC line crimping now...:-). I think the hardest/most time consuming part of all this is cleaning everything as I go. I hate dirty!
