From another thread on sunroofs it was suggested we have a list of accessories. This list applies to U.S. models ONLY as some items were ordered by Hoffman as standard equipment.

Standard U.S. Accessories from Hoffman
-Leather
-A/C
-Electric front windows (not standard on earlier models)
-Tinted glass

Optional U.S. Accessories
-Limited slip differential
-Michelin XAS radial tires
-Radio/antenna/speaker
-Metallic paint
-Sunroof (manual and electric)
-Floor mats
-Antifreeze (doubt any came without)
-Electric outside mirror (74 model only)

Orange Parts Book
-Sunroof wind deflector
-Fog lights
-Headlight washing system
-Map light
-Trailer hitch and installation kit

I wonder if a dealer could order the headlight washing system for a U.S. coupe? I did not include automatic transmission as that is standard in the 225000X VIN series. Also, I have not seen a window sticker that shows steering wheel as an option even though U.S. coupes got either the wood or synthetic leather wheels while Europe got the true leather and sport steering wheels. I did not include euro options like spoilers and CSL stripes obviously.

I will edit this post as I find more facts to include.

I've always wondered whether the steel fender arch trim was a US option for CSs, or was that only for CSLs?

Len,

CSL parts are in the Orange Books but I don't consider them a U.S. accessory, you could include a CSi engine as well but they were never imported here.

The rear window shades are not in the part books and I believe were first introduced on the e24, not the e9.

What about these additional accessories:

First aid kit
Snow Chains
Emergency repair kit with safety triangle
Storage bin with molded shock tower mounts
Mud flaps with roundel
Rear fender leading edge chip guards
Roof rack
Inflatable windshield
Trailer hitch
Seat belt extenders

Aren't some of these originally for the 2002? (storage bin, inflatable windshield, mud flaps, chip guards). You could buy touch up paint at the dealer and chains but I don't consider them e9 accessories, e9s didn't have a first aid kit those started with the e24 I think. Never seen an e9 roof rack and it's not in any parts book, I listed the hitch, seat belts were generic and I've only seen them for Repa belts which were 2002.

Leather steering wheels--bus type

Were available on the earliest US spec E-9's--e.g BLUMAX had one with a single rounded horn button in its center--not the more common 3 button ones on later cars--it's now in the parts department--eerrr collection--of one of our board members.

Not all the US spec cars came in through Hoffmann. There was a group of 2800CS's that were built for US military in Germany that had simpler equipment. My father was able to buy one of those even though he wasn't in the military. The car is US spec, but has electric windows, automatic, vinyl interior, no radio, and no a/c.

I just pulled out the old paint brochure. The US spec cars for the American Forces were painted in Malaga, Granada, Nevada, Sahara, Bristol, and Florida.

Thanks. Wasn't sure if those additional accessories were BMW 'generic' or model specific, so I listed them, since '02s and E9s share some of the same parts.

Could you post a scan of this pamphlet? I would love to see it along with any other info on the AF cars. These cars were still US VINs correct? That would explain why a US coupe occasionally shows up with vinyl interior and no A/C. Thanks.
