OK... I should know this but just throwing this out there for perhaps some additional insight/advice...

I have completed phase one of my resto project, 1972 3.0csa with 1.3 motronic motor (PO did this... runs great!).

Interior/upper painted surfaces are done including engine compartment. Phase two (planned this way...) is about to begin in the next several weeks as I continue to accumulate all the replacement bushings for f and r suspension.

I am planning on dropping the rear subframe inluding the drive train and the front suspension (struts, control arms... the whole works) but leaving the front subframe on the car. All bushings will be replaced, metal parts cleaned and repainted and nuts and bolts and brackets properly plated.

The question is... where (in your collective opinions) would be the most proper place (without inducing unnecessary stresses to the unibody) to place jackstands/supports under the body? This phase should take 6-8 weeks.

Fire away! DCG

When I did my rear subframe I took off the rocker covers and cut some wood to place over the rear jack points and in the curved area of the jack stand arm (white piece) to spread the load. Fits over the jack point hole and against the side of the folded metal joint (seen in the background of the pic) for a secure fit. You can't use the usual spot under the subframe supports because you can't get them off with the jack stand there. Make sure your rockers are solid at these points. Use frame rails up front as usual.
