I am looking for advice on air conditioning pump
Has anyone upgraded to a newer pump that is 134r compatible?

I used a BMW Seiko rotary pump and went 134. Sandens are available but use a dealer, the ones on eBay are Chinese and "Sanden-like" but not originals. Other will fit as well, all depends on the mounting bracket.

Mark:

The issue is that the Sanden compressors and their Chinese clones need an adapter bracket to bolt to the M30 block. These brackets used to be readily available through the aftermarket, but the supply has all but dried up. I looked into this a while back. There's a long thread here:

When I looked into it, there didn't seem to be an easy ready-made turn-key solution to getting a bracket that would allow mounting a Sanden or clone to the M30. Others chimed in on the thread with some options about making or adapting existing brackets. The E28 folks have the same problem.

Note that, in the 2002 world, there's the same issue. One guy on bmw2002faq who goes by the name of "HobieDave" builds brackets to allow bolting a Sanden or clone to the M10 motor and makes a little pocket money, but really he does it more as a public service. It looks like Bert Poliakoff has designed adapters to let you use the wing cell bracket with a Sanden clone, but it doesn't look like it's exactly click and buy.

So if I absolutely had to buy something tomorrow, I'd probably be looking at a rebuilt original "wing cell" compressor and its original bracket for the M30 engine in an E28. Coupe King used to show these on his web site, but that link is now inactive.

If I'm wrong about this and if a definitive answer has been found for something that can be clicked on and bought, someone please update this thread!
