Hello Gents,

I started having some issues with my Front Drivers Side window. About 3/4 of rolling the window up, it would get stuck and start chattering (vibrating and hopping). The only I way I could get past this was to push the window while holding the up switch.

After doing some homework here on the forum, I ambitiously started the disassembly. It turns out that the big circular gear has some teeth that are stripped, which is the reason the window gets stuck. Please see attached photos.

Does anyone have any experience with this sort of issue? Should I try and replace the entire assembly or just try to replace the circular gear? Does anyone have these parts for sale?

It'd probably be easier to replace the entire assembly but the alignment of the window was very good. However it seems like the removing and replacing the gear might be difficult

And secondly, does anyone have any input about getting additional rubber stoppers? Is there a source for new, used, or is this something that I can make out of home depot type parts?

Thanks in advance

Looks like you need a new window regulator. The motor and gearbox can be reused if they are in good condition. It would be useful to see what caused such wear, there has to be some play or misaligned parts there.

Replacing the window regulator is not that difficult, old cars have plenty of room inside the door panels... Just be careful with the coiled energy when you disassemble the regulator itself.

good advice Arde ... does anybody have any good advice on the best approach to this topic? i have specifically stayed away from this work because of this issue.
